30. Forbidden Sea

I read this for the October mother-daughter book club. It's cover looks really scary, but it wasn't scary, and it was a really good book. It is set on this little island in the middle of the sea. It is about a fourteen-year old girl named Adrainne. The community on the island is very superstisous, and there is an old tale about a young girl who was taken by the mermaids. When Adrainne's sister runs away one night, Adrainne goes to get her and finds her, and a mermaid. The mermaid tries to drag Adrainne out to sea, but she barely escapes. The whole book is about how Adrainne tries to avoid being pulled in by the mermaid. It was really good.
