I read this book to earn a party at school. It was about a girl named Opal. She has just moved to a new town and she is having a hard time making new friends. When her dad sends her to the store to get two tomatoes, and some rice, she finally gets a new friend. She goes to the produce department and she sees a dog running all around the store with a whole bunch of people chasing it. Before she knows it, she has told everyone that the dog is her and that his name is Winn-Dixie. By the end of the summer, she has made some knew friends with the help of Winn-Dixie. It was a really good book.
